Mirador Torre del Time

View of banana plantations in the Valle de Aridane

The Torre del Time viewpoint offers one of the most spectacular views of La Palma. You can see the vast Aridane valley covered with banana plantations and broken up by a deep ravine, Las Angustias, which leads to the charming Tazacorte port. On a very clear day you can see El Hierro. This watchtower stands at 700 metres on the LP-1 road, between the towns of Los Llanos de Aridane and Puntagorda. It’s the perfect place to refuel on the west side of La Palma.

A trail with splendid views from Tazacorte

You can also walk up to the viewpoint, it’s a very steep, stone path which zigzags 3 kilometres from the old docks in Tazacorte. It’s a difficult trail but the impressive views are worth it. Once you arrive at the top, you can reward yourself with a slice of Spanish tortilla and a barraquito – a Canarian speciality of coffee with condensed milk – in the bar. The views at nightfall are even more impressive, if you can stay longer.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Respect and look after the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, binoculars and telescopes, etc.).
  • Respect the signposting along trails. Leaving the set paths and spaces causes damage to the environment and could also be dangerous for you and anyone with you.
  • Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.).
