Surf at El Confital

One of Europe’s top surf spots

El Confital is regarded as one of Europe’s top waves and is north east Gran Canaria and within the capital city of Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its long, right break is fantastic for accomplished surfers. The spot links to the city via a walkway popular with locals and visitors and is accessible on foot and by car. The El Confital break has hosted world class surfing events such as the ASP WQS and the Red Bull Rival.

Tubing waves within Gran Canaria’s capital city

The El Confital spot breaks to the right over a volcanic ledge and its tube runs the length of the break in very shallow water. The drop in is vertical, almost aerial and the wave has a strong Take Off. Although the spot is consistent throughout the year the best conditions are between September and May at high tide, with the winds E-NE and the swell swell N-NW-W. There are several entry points although care is required on big wave days as the water pushes you towards the rocks.

Sustainability

Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
