Las Tricias

A rural hamlet far away from urban development

In the north-west of La Palma, far removed from modern urban development and the hustle and bustle of the town, you will find the small and peaceful hamlet of Las Tricias. Perched on a hillside between ravines and surrounded by almond trees, its winter flower display is truly spectacular. The relaxed rhythm of life here allows you to take your time to enjoy the architecture; pretty detached houses with wooden balconies, walls of dark stone whitewashed and tiled roofs - genuine La Palma style.

Arts, crafts and archaeology in La Palma

The arts and crafts traditions in small hamlets are very important; because of this, traditional buildings such as an old stone flour mill have been lovingly restored – the building is now a museum, with a shop selling local handmade goods. And you can't leave Las Tricias without visiting the nearby Cuevas de Buracas (Buracas Caves). Here you’ll find rock formations of great archaeological interest and a magical dragon tree woods, an indigenous tree of the Canary Islands.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
