Village of La Oliva

A village full of nature

This small town in the north of the island only has around 20,000 inhabitants. In the area you can find the Isla de Lobos Nature Park, the Dunas de Corralejo Nature Park and the Tindaya Mountain. For those who prefer to explore the streets, La Oliva has some interesting tourist sites, such as the Casa de los Coroneles – a stately home from the XVII century, and Nuestra Señora la Candelaria Church – one of the biggest on the island – with a peculiar square stone bell tower.

Cafes all around

One of the interesting things about La Oliva is that it has the most cafes, restaurants and sweetshops per capita in the whole of Fuerteventura, making it a favourite for lovers of good food.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
