Museo Atlántico

Lanzarote

An underwater museum in the south of Lanzarote

In the south of Lanzarote, opposite the bay of Las Coloradas, we find one of the world’s very few underwater museums: the Museo Atlántico. The museum’s over three hundred sculptures in realist style, created by the British artist Jason deCaires, create a dreamlike atmosphere that can only be discovered by diving under the water. Located beside the Marina Rubicón at a depth of just 12 metres, the impressive Museo Atlántico is within reach of divers of all levels.

Diving amongst artworks

The figures that make up the Museo Atlántico are created using pH-neutral concrete, which will serve to increase the marine biomass and facilitate the reproduction of Lanzarote's aquatic species with the passage of time. In this museum teeming with life, visitors will discover several collections of sculptures that reflect the relationship between nature and humans, making them reflect on this reality. Diving amongst the expressive artworks of the Museo Atlántico is an unforgettable activity.
