Palmitos Park

Exotic animals and an immense garden

This centre is located halfway between a zoo and a botanical garden. It covers 240,000 square metres of a natural valley known as the Barranco de los Palmitos, in the south of Gran Canaria. This park is known for its huge variety of animals, including monkeys, parrots, toucans, reptiles and a dolphinarium with space to accommodate 1,500 people and half a dozen bottlenose dolphins.

A new park with thousands of orchids

The park was inaugurated in 1978, but it was completely renovated in 2008 after a fire the previous year. The park currently has over 200 species of trees and plants, including the largest orchid collection in the Canary Islands. There is also a beautiful butterfly garden where butterflies can fly freely – sure to delight children during their visit!
