In the northwest of Lanzarote, near Teguise is Famara beach, the best kitesurfing spot in Lanzarote. Apart from its fabulous wind conditions and its breakers all over the beach, it is recommended for all levels of expertise. This spot, which is easily accessed, is situated under the cliffs of Famara. The nearby fishing village of Caleta de Famara has all the necessary facilities for kitesurfing such as a surfing camp, schools, repairs and shops selling materials.

A kitesurfing spot perfect for wave riding

Famara beach is a perfect spot for wave riding, given that it has several peaks which are powerful in the deepest areas. The wave is of the beach break kind and the best wind conditions are NE-N in a side-on shore direction. Although kitesurfing can be done all year round, it is between May and September that the winds are more consistent and favourable. This spot is best enjoyed at low or medium tide.

Sustainability

Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
Try to use ocean-friendly sun creams.
