This aquatic activity is easy to engage in and consists of swimming on the surface of the water wearing goggles and a snorkel tube. Fins are highly recommended so that you can glide along with a minimum of effort.

A world opens up before your eyes - you will be surprised to see so many treasures below the surface! You can discover a host of fish swimming in synchrony, as well as other solitary fish seeking food, and still more hidden between the rocks. The diversity of underwater flora and fauna is so entertaining that without even realising it, you will exercise your body as you enjoy the marine environment.

La Gomera has repeatedly been the venue for underwater photography and freediving championships due to the diversity of resources and natural values of its seabed.

This sport is originally from Polynesia. Are you up for trying it? Although it has been practised for centuries, it became popular thanks to well-known surfers who began using an oar for their training sessions and realised it improved their balance notably.

To practise this sport you will need a board and an oar or paddle. There are companies on the island that can provide this for you. The boards come in very different sizes, so the instructor will most likely tell you which one is best for you. As for the paddles, the larger they are the better you can move forward, but you will also need to apply more force.

This activity has many benefits and like most water sports, makes the whole body work, achieving really well-rounded workouts.

The depths of the seas of La Gomera conceal a world of diversity and practically unexplored forms.

The island has produced guidebooks showing several dive sites. One striking example is the dive at the Los Órganos Natural Monument, because the volcanic structure continues under the sea. Observing La Gomera through the underwater prism is a magical experience.

Consult the Tourist Information Office to find out whether there is a company or association that runs this activity at the time of your visit to La Gomera. The island also has public entities which organise “baptism” events for you to be initiated with your first immersion in the world of diving.

The abundant, rich marine life in the waters surrounding the island make it the ideal venue for the Deep Sea Fishing Championship, Island of La Gomera, one of the most important sporting events of the year. This modality, which respects the environment, is a sport that rewards the catching and subsequent release of fish such as the marlin, the black-striped pipefish or tuna. The former are photographed and returned to the sea, while the tuna are brought to shore, and after being weighed, are donated to charity.
