Livestock Walk: Promise on the Road to San Antonio

The San Antonio neighborhood in La Matanza de Acentejo will become the epicenter of the island’s livestock sector during the celebration of the Octava Ganadera de San Antonio Abad. The procession will start in El Sauzal, following the route along Calle Real Orotava in Ravelo before reaching the Ermita de San Antonio. This event revives a tradition that was discontinued for over four decades: the pilgrimage of livestock farmers from various points on the island to fulfill their promises, receive the blessing of the Patron Saint of animals, and honor customs and practices that date back centuries.
