Candlemas is a popular feast celebrated by Catholics, which celebrates the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, the Purification of the Virgin after childbirth and the Virgin of Candlemas, a Marian devotion that appeared in Tenerife (Canary Islands), in south-west Spain, in the 15th century.

It takes place on 2 February, Candlemas Day, and in some places (Canary Islands, Pedrera, Palencia, Valls...) it lasts for several days, generally because she is the patron saint of the place".
