"Candela is a 15-song journey into the heart of Dominican music, led by the voice of Vicente and accompanied in the production by Eduardo Cabra (Visitante from Calle 13). “The last album of a trilogy and the beginning of a new story,” says Vicente García about his visionary new studio album, Candela. His goal with Candela was to re-invent the intensity and passion of merengue and bachata, signature genres of his native Dominican Republic and explored by Vicente on his two previous albums, Melodrama and A la Mar.

García wants to make his native musical influences a key part of a new global aesthetic. “I wanted to experiment with merengue and mix it with different genres and rhythms, use electronic equipment like the Juno synthesiser, mix bachata with trap, bachata with James Blake, with dubstep and with Reggae,” he says. “This is the way I’ve always dreamed of making music.”
