Romería de las Marías

The Romería de las Marías is an annual celebration held on the third weekend of September, distinguished by its two main events. On Saturday, the "Bajada de la Rama" takes place, where a branch is transported from the highlands to Guía. Then, on Sunday at noon, the Procession and Pilgrimage occur. Throughout these events, the distinctive sound of conchs or bucios and drums fills the air, alluding to traditional elements used to ward off pests. The pilgrimage is especially renowned as one of the purest, most beautiful, and traditional in all of the Canary Islands, celebrated for its deep sense of tradition and festive atmosphere.
