Dive alongside large turtles in Tenerife
Costa Adeje boasts a small, secluded bay where visitors can snorkel or scuba dive alongside large inquisitive turtles. Known as El Puertito de Armeñime, this inviting arch-shaped beach with its small group of houses is set in a protected semi-circular bay just a few kilometres away from the tourist resorts of western Tenerife. Swimming in its crystal-clear waters among peaceful green turtles of up to 20 kilos in weight that are well used to the presence of people creates a wonderful lasting memory.
Diving for the whole family in Costa Adeje
This dive, also known as the Puertito is very simple. It is accessible from El Puertito beach itself or from a boat, with an average depth of six metres and a maximum depth of 15 metres. If you choose to snorkel, the whole family can take part as there is no current to worry about and the turtles are very used to the presence of divers. Remember to watch out for the tourist boats that frequent the spot, which can be avoided if you go first thing in the morning.
