Plunge into an underwater canyon with a shipwreck
The 30-metre-long boat 'El Condesito' ran aground off the coast of the southernmost tip of the island of Tenerife in 1971. The unfortunate accident left two important legacies: The Rasca lighthouse, which was built to prevent a repeat of the misfortune and the wreck of the 'El Condesito', one of the most unique diving spots in Tenerife. The wreck, split up into several parts, is at the bottom of an undersea canyon 20 metres deep, flanked by walls with prismatic formations and rich with abundant marine life.
Diving down to a seabed with prismatic rock formations
The anchor point of the boat is 3.7 nautical miles away from the port of the large tourist resort of Los Cristianos. At this point the currents can increase the difficulty of the dive to a medium level. Close to the coastline, the spot is home to numerous octopus, cuttlefish and parrotfish. The dive usually involves passing through the surrounding rocks with their spectacular prismatic formations that seem to invite the diver to climb their steps. The wreck's shallow depth and good water visibility make this a good place to snorkel.
