Climbing in Fataga

Climbing hotspot in Gran Canaria

One of the climbing hotspots in the Canary Islands are the basalt walls of pretty Fataga valley in south Gran Canaria. Close to Fataga village, with its whitewashed houses and tiled roofs, this wild area is known as the Valley of 1000 Palms. The red valley walls contrast with the green of the palms and offer a wide range of routes for climbers of all abilities. This range of routes makes Fataga a favourite spot for climbing in Gran Canaria.

Climb the valley outside the hot summer months

While the area only has around 75 routes its constant popularity is guaranteed by the year-round climbing conditions. Even in the hottest summer months the afternoon shade makes Fataga’s feature-packed crag, up to 30 metres high, a pleasant climb.
